Heritage Project
Management in Surrey & Devon
Conservation-led project management for historic, listed and traditional buildings, helping repair and construction projects move from early advice through to completion with clear coordination.
Project Management for
Historic Buildings
Historic building projects require careful coordination. Decisions about materials, methods, consent, contractors and specialist advice can affect both the quality of the work and the long-term performance of the building.
Bosence Associates manages heritage projects from initial concept and design through to construction, handover and future maintenance planning. Our practical conservation experience helps us understand the relationship between written information, workmanship and site delivery.
We may act as Lead Consultant where this is appropriate to the project. We are also comfortable working with existing professional teams or helping clients identify, coordinate and, where agreed, appoint suitable consultants.
All professional appointments, including our own, are made under contract. This gives each party a clear understanding of the scope, responsibilities, fees and limitations before work proceeds.
Our Process
1. Understand the Project
We begin by discussing the building, the proposed work, the client’s priorities and any known constraints. This establishes what the project needs to achieve and where specialist conservation input may be required.
2. Define the Scope and Team
We clarify the work involved, the professional services needed and the responsibilities of those taking part. This may include coordinating existing consultants or helping appoint additional specialists where agreed.
3. Develop the Project Information
The project is developed through design, specifications, consent requirements and preparation for construction. Clear information at this stage reduces ambiguity and helps avoid unnecessary changes later.
4. Coordinate the Work
During construction, we provide oversight in accordance with the agreed appointment, helping the client, consultants and contractors communicate clearly and deal with issues as they arise.
5. Complete and Hand Over
As the project reaches completion, we help close it out in an orderly way. This may include reviewing outstanding items, coordinating handover information and identifying future maintenance considerations.
