Practical Conservation Training and CPD
Caring for historic and traditionally constructed buildings requires an understanding of how older materials and methods of construction work. Standard modern approaches are not always suitable, and inappropriate repairs can cause damage or create unnecessary cost.
Bosence Associates provides impartial training and continuing professional development for professionals, organisations, property teams, trustees, volunteers and others responsible for inspecting, maintaining or repairing older buildings.
Technical subjects can include surveying, building defects, conservation principles and the retrofit of traditional buildings. Sessions can also address governance and legal responsibilities where these are relevant to those caring for a building.
We also provide practical training in selected conservation and craft techniques, including earth mortars, hot-mixed lime and limewash mixing and application. Where hands-on instruction is not required, the same subjects can be explored through desk-based learning.
